One of the first things that you will have to set up on our account is a List. The following article will provide you with a detailed overview of how to create and set up a contact list, as well as other options and opportunities, such as how to connect your list with social audiences.

At MarketingPlatform we always recommend you to have one list instead of multiple, due to the fact that the Statistics module will be more comprehensive for you.

Add a New List

To create a contact list, click on the tab “lists” and choose the option “add list”, as shown below.

Setting up Your List

When you’ve entered the view for adding a list, you’ll be met with an overview. Here, you should input the information you would like to portray upon sending campaigns to the list:

  • Send From Name – the sender’s name (the name that will be seen by your subscribers when you send a campaign to them).
  • Send From Email – the sender’s email address (the email address which will be used when you send a campaign to your contact list – the email address that will be visible to your recipients).
  • Default Reply-to Email – When your recipients reply to your newsletters, the answers will come to this email address. It is generally a great idea to allow dialogue and not send from no-reply addresses.
  • SMS Country Prefix – If the recipients on your contact lists come from the same country, then you can set a default prefix on the contact list.
  • Notify the List Owner – this provides you with an option to receive an email every time a contact has subscribed and/or unsubscribed from the list.

On the right side of the overview, you have the possibility to enter your Company Details. We strongly recommend that you fill out this information, as some of the details will be replacing placeholders inside forms, the Email builder, as well as the SMS builder.

Underneath the basic information, you can connect your list to social audiences (SoMe). You can read more about this topic on the following pages:

When you scroll to the bottom of the page, the real building of the list begins. Here, you will choose what kind of information your profiles can enter.

There are three different tabs: All Fields, Standard Basic Data Fields, and Own Basic Data Fields.

  • If you choose to see all fields, you will see a combination of standard basic data fields and your own basic data fields.
  • If you choose to see standard basic data fields, you will see the default system data fields of the platform. You will not be able to make changes to these.
  • If you choose to see your own basic data fields, you will see the data fields that you have created on your own.

You can read more about data fields here.

When choosing which data fields should be included on your list, you simply drag and drop the fields onto the blank canvas on the right called “All fields”.

When you are done with the creation of your list, go to the top of the page and click “Save”.

MarketingPlatform offers seamless integration with Trustpilot, the popular online review platform. If gathering customer reviews is essential for your business and you already have an active Trustpilot account, you can easily integrate it with MarketingPlatform to enhance your review management efforts.

Since the integration is tied to the list where your subscribers are stored, you can set it up either when creating a new list or editing an existing one. In both instances, you will find the Trustpilot Integration button located just below the Company Details section.

After clicking the Trustpilot Integration button, a pop-up window will appear asking you to enter your Trustpilot site, domain name, and secret key (which can be found in your Trustpilot account). Once you have entered these details, confirm by clicking ‘OK,’ and your list will be instantly integrated with your Trustpilot account.

With the integration complete, you can begin inviting your customers to leave verified reviews about your business, whether it is for your services, products, or specific stores.

It is important to include a direct link to your Trustpilot account in your newsletters. To do this, highlight the text you want to link, click the Link button in the CK editor that appears above, and select Trustpilot from the dropdown menu (as illustrated in the image below). This ensures your customers can easily access your Trustpilot page to leave their reviews.

After selecting Trustpilot, choose the list your account is integrated with, then select the custom name field and optionally, the custom reference number. Once these fields are set, press OK, and your Trustpilot invitation is ready to be sent.

You can choose to include a dynamic Trustpilot link in the footer of your email campaigns. This not only helps build customer confidence but also provides subscribers with direct access to leave reviews on your Trustpilot account.

This feature requires a paid Trustpilot upgrade and is part of the Connect add-on, which is available with the Premium and Advanced packages and included in the Enterprise package.

Connect with Facebook

When you create a contact list or edit an existing one, you can connect your Facebook account with MarketingPlatform. Click on the Facebook button, allow the pop up, and log in to the media. Once you have confirmed the connection, select which page to post on.

Create your post

You can decide for yourself how your post should look like. By default, we use the first text and the first image in your campaign for your post. However, you can also design the post yourself under the social tab in the Builder. Here you can choose which image to use, as well as which text should be displayed when the campaign is published on your chosen media.

Send and publish

You “post” your post on Facebook at the same time you send your campaign. In step 2 “Activites” you choose that the campaign should be posted on Facebook. (You will only see Facebook posts here as an option if your contact list is correctly connected to Facebook.) In step 3 “preview and send” you choose whether you want to both post and send the campaign or whether you only want to post it on Facebook.

Which campaigns have I sent to my contact list?

On any contact list you will find an RSS icon under the title “Archive”. Here you will find an overview of the campaigns that have been sent to that contact list. First and foremost, the window works as an archive where you can see all the campaigns that are sent to the list and on which date they have been sent. If you want to share the campaign with others, you just need to choose whether you want a direct link or an RSS feed.

Share you archive with others – as a link or an RSS Feed

If you would like to make your sent campaigns available either internally or on your webshop, you can get a direct link to the newsletters sent to that list via “Get shareable link”. The list will have the sending date, subject field and a link to the campaign itself. If you use “get shareable link”, you will get a view as in the image below.

You can also choose to get the list as an RSS feed, which you can integrate into your webshop or offer your customers. For example, if you use an RSS widget on your website, you can insert our RSS feed here. It will automatically update your website with a link to your campaigns – and new sendings will automatically come.
