When you are logged in to your account, among other things, you have via “my account” the option to change your password or give MarketingPlatform support access to your data.

My account

You find My account in the upper right corner. From here you can quickly get an overview of the number of your contacts and how many SMS credits you have left. This is also where you log out.

When you click in My account, you get more options. From here you can change your password and time zone. You can also insert a profile picture if you want.

Grant Access to MarketingPlatform support

If you turn to support with a question regarding your data, you will experience that we will ask you for access to the data. To respect your data, 40% of your contact’s email addresses or mobile numbers are masked, so that the support cannot identify your contacts. Read more about how MarketingPlatform complies with GDPR here.
Therefore, we need to ask for this mask to be removed in order to help you. The same goes with export – we cannot help you with exports without accessing your data. You can give us access to your data by pressing the “grant access” button. After that, you have to define in a pop up how long we can see your data.
When the time expires, your data will again be masked.

If your domain is not properly set up and ready to send emails from MarketingPlatform, you will see the following error message on the dashboard in MarketingPlatform: ‘Domain name has not been set up successfully. See details’.

We check 4 points on your domain – Active, MX, SPF and DKIM – to see whether they are correctly set up to send emails with MarketingPlatform.

A screenshot from the interface of MarketingPlatform, picturing the instructions for setting up SPF/DKIM.

  • Active
We check that the domain is active and exists. It is important that you own the domain, and that it is an active domain, so that it can be used to send emails.
  • MX
This record indicates whether a mail-server exists on the domain. It is important that email addresses also exist on the domain that you want to send from, and that the address that you will use also exists on the mail-server.
  • SPF
This record indicates which systems/ip addresses are authorized email senders from your domain (used, among other things, to prevent phishing). It is important that you have this setup on your domain and that MarketingPlatform is part of this (include:mailmailmail.net).
  • DKIM
This record is set up to verify all emails sent from your domain. When we send emails on behalf of your domain, we use the same DKIM that is set up on your domain, and is therefore a verified sender. This helps prevent, among other things, email spoofing.

SPF

If there is no SPF record, or MarketingPlatform is not part of your current SPF record, you will receive an error message on this. If you click the “info” button, you will see an example of your new SPF record.

A screenshot from the interface of MarketingPlatform, picturing the instructions for setting up SPF/DKIM.

A typical SPF record value looks like shown on the picture above.

“v=spf1 a mx include:spf.unoeuro.com include:mailmailmail.net -all”

  • A includes your A record, so that your website is approved to send emails from your domain.
  • MX includes your mail-server.
  • include:mailmailmail.net aproves MarketingPlatform as the sender of this domain.

If you have multiple systems that are being used for sending emails, it is important that you include their SPF in order to approve these systems as senders.

You will find all your DNS records in the DNS (Domain) administration for your domain. If an SPF record does not already exist, you need to create a new TXT-record and insert your specific SPF value.

DKIM

If there is no DKIM for MarketingPlatform, you will receive an error message on this. If you click on the “info” button, you will get the option to create a DKIM value for your domain.

A screenshot from the interface of MarketingPlatform, picturing the instructions for setting up SPF/DKIM.

DKIM also needs to be created as a TXT-record in your DNS administration. However, it is important to note that the domain/hostname in this setup contains nothing but just the domain – most often you will always see emp._domainkey. in front of your domain when DKIM is used for MarketingPlatform.

In MarketingPlatform, you can have a number of users associated with your main account, if you wish. In this way, each employee has his own login. If you want to create users for your account, please contact us at support@linkmobility.dk – we need your request in writing. For your own safety, we never provide login information via chat or phone.

Log in as user

When logging in as a user on an account, first you log in with your own information. You have been given a username such as name_domain, and have been told that you must create your password the first time you log in. When you are logged in, you will see the dashboard, but it will look a little different than if you were logged in directly to the main account.

A screenshot from the interface of MarketingPlatform picturing the instructions for using User Accounts. The Dashboard when logged in as a user. Be aware of the missing rights to the left.

You do not have the same rights on your user account as you have on the main account. Therefore, you need to go to the upper right corner and click on the circle. From here you will find View users, where you will be shown a list view of the accounts you have access to. Click on login (the key icon) on the right side to log in to the account where you want to work. Basically, you log in to each of your user accounts, but work in the same account.

When you log in to the platform, the first thing you will see is the Dashboard. The Dashboard contains an overview of your recent MarketingPlatform activities, including statistics such as your most effective campaigns, list growth and device overview.

The primary navigation menu to the left can be expanded or collapsed by clicking on the icon with the three horizontal lines. Apart from that, at the top of the page, there are also shortcut icons available for you to quickly view your statistics and create email and SMS campaigns.

A screenshot from the interface of MarketingPlatform, picturing the Dashboard menu.

In the upper right corner of the page, you will also find direct links to contact our Support team by phone or online chat, as well as a direct link to our Wiki page where you can find useful How-to-Articles containing instructions and other content that can help you when starting to work with the platform.

A screenshot from the interface of MarketingPlatform, picturing the instructions requesting support.

One of the most vital pieces of information available on the Dashboard is the SPF and DKIM status and configuration details.

Before you start sending email campaigns, you must first configure the SPF and DKIM records in your DNS settings. In other words, the receiving mail servers (e.g., Gmail and Outlook) will require this configuration so that you are able to send email through MarketingPlatform. You can get the relevant details needed for the configuration by clicking on “info” next to the SPF and DKIM icons respectively.

Once you have set up the relevant records, you need to go back to the Dashboard to check their status: if correctly set up, the records should have a green status, as shown in the image below. Please note that it takes at least a few hours for the setup (or any changes to it) to take effect.

In doubt on how to set up SPF and DKIM? Read our guide here.

Further down the Dashboard, you have an overview of your latest five email campaigns on the left, and your top five email campaigns, autoresponders, and triggers on the right side. This way, you’re always updated on your latest campaigns, as well as which ones have the best performance.

Scrolling down, you will also find a visual representation of your lists(s) growth over time, as well as device usage stats showing you which devices have been used to open your campaigns, all information that can help you visualize important data and target your campaigns better.

Finally, an overview of your list(s) performance over time is shown, providing you with a clear trend overview of how many confirmed/unconfirmed profiles you have on your list, the number of bounces and forwards, as well as how many profiles have unsubscribed from the list.

This article will guide you to set up a custom return-path in the Domain Checker area of MarketingPlatform. It will be helpful if you are already familiar with the terms SPF and DKIM in advance. You can read our article about SPF and DKIM here. To set up a custom return-path, it is required to have set up your SPF and DKIM with MarketingPlatform in advance. You can follow our step-by-step guide here to do just that.

A return-path is required if you want to be fully DMARC compliant, and setting a custom return-path on top of your existing SPF and DKIM will help to tie you delivery reputation to your domain, and as a good sender of emails, you will both build up and keep your good reputation to a greater extend with a custom return-path than without it. A return-path is also sometimes referred to as the bounce address or the MAIL FROM address.

How to add a custom return-path

When the return-path has been set up you will see a checkmark in your Domain Checker. In the image below you can see we have several domains, and the one where both SPF and DKIM are set up, we can create the return-path.

A screenshot from the interface of MarketingPlatform, picturing the instructions for dd a Custom Return - Path.

Clicking the info-icon on your domain without having set up a return-path yet, you will see a small setup panel.

  • Simply edit and add the address and sub-domain you would like to use.
  • Go into your DNS setup and create a new CNAME
  • Add your domain as the name value e.g. mail.yourdomain.com and click the destination to copy our domain and paste it as the destination in your CNAME

Our domain checker will check your DNS and find your CNAME. Depending on your TTL it can take from a few minutes to hours before your DNS has been updated and we will be able to see it. If you set your TTL to 10minutes for a faster detection, remember to raise it again as a low TTL is often used by spammers and as it might not have any negative impact on your delivery, it certainly does not have a positive one either.

Once we have detected your CNAME and validated it – we automatically check, but you can manually hit reload as well – your custom return-path will now be used when sending emails for your domain. You can see your return-path by inspecting a sent email campaign. How to do this will depend on your inbox and will require a basic knowledge about email delivery to analyse. You will see something like this:

Return-Path: <return-info-johnsmith=gmail.com@email.yourdomain.com>

With the return-path being set up you can keep even more of your good reputation as a good sender and implement a DMARC policy.
